Porcelain Tile / September 12, 2018 / Brousseau.
The hardness of porcelain tiles is an advantage for more reasons than appearance. This quality makes these tiles far more scratch resistant than ceramic tiles. When tiles get scratched up you have to go to a lot of expense and trouble to get them polished out and sometimes even that isnt possible. Porcelain tiles are also more resistant to chipping. This hardy nature also makes them less slippery than ceramic tiles which makes them a better choice for safety reasons as well.
These methods will not keep the drill bits cool enough and will drastically shorten the life of the drill bit. Ensure that the drill is in normal mode and set the drill to between 1000 and 1500 rpm. If you have marked the tile with a marker it is best to drill into the tile using a method called leaning in. Leaning in ensures that the drill will not slip and wander off center as you begin to drill into the tile.
These tiles offer more water resistance and frost resistance than ceramic tiles. Glazed porcelain tiles offer a surface that is resistant to wear and tear and a harder surface that is great for high traffic areas such as the kitchen or tea room. Full porcelain floor tiles have a colour and pattern that follows through to the base of the tile so the patterns are never worn away like ceramic tiles. Glazed porcelain tiles are coated with liquid glass and then baked so that the protection is impervious to wear and tear as well as stains.
There can be many quality issues regarding porcelain tiles that are sold at home improvement stores and discount tile stores. Many times these tiles are cheap imports that are vastly inferior with many quality control issues. Unwitting people thinking they are purchasing quality tiles that are superior to ceramic when in fact they are extremely cheap. These cheap tiles can present many problems in quality durability and they can be extremely difficult to clean and maintain.
